New! Volunteer Restoration Opportunities for Schools and Community Groups in Rouge National Urban Park

Parks Canada is pleased to announce several opportunities for schools and community groups in the Greater Toronto Area to participate in volunteer-based ecological restoration projects to enhance the health of ecosystems in Canada’s first national urban park – Rouge National Urban Park.

Parks Canada invites all interested school and community groups active in the City of Toronto and in the regional municipalities of York and Durham to submit an application form for potential involvement in volunteer-based ecological restoration projects in Rouge National Urban Park for the fall of 2015. Most volunteer restoration projects would involve planting shrubs or trees to help improve the health of forests, wetlands and agricultural areas on Parks Canada lands in northeast Markham, Ontario.

Volunteer planting activities would occur between early October and early November of 2015, on dates and times to be determined, subject to weather conditions and staff and group availability.

All applications will be assessed using answers to a suite of questions found in the application form.

How to Apply
Interested groups are invited to complete the application form and answer the selection criteria questions. Please indicate if you are applying for the school or community group category.

The deadline to apply is September 15 at 11:59 PM EST.

For more information or to download the application form, please visit:http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/progs/np-pn/cnpn-cnnp/rouge/ne/ne-7.aspx

Thank you for your interest!
